Perry, I really respect the way that you challenge the human psyche in a healthy way. This clearly puts Stella in a place where she has to transcend her fears and move into a place of power where she can open in trust to allow you to "drown" her.
Personally, I believe that it is both healthy and powerful to live just a bit beyond our edge of comfort. To far room our edge and we are living a passionless and purposeless life and too far over our edge and we become adrenalin junkies...balance is the name of the game.
